We often get asked – “what’s the difference between Stallion Share vs. Breeding Right?”

Here’s the answer to the Frequently Asked Question –

STALLION SHARE

Let’s explore Alpine Edge as the example –

Alpine Edge is broken up or syndicated into forty shares. One share equates to 1/40th (2.5%) ownership in Alpine Edge. In addition, one share entitles the owner, two (2) nominations to Alpine Edge per year for the lifetime of the stallion. A share in Alpine Edge will also give the owner voting rights, dividend entitlements in the net profit of any nominations sold to other breeders.

In summary –

  • An ownership share in Alpine Edge
  • Two nominations every year for the life of the stallion (free return available)
  • Voting rights including input to the Management Committee in setting the service fee
  • Share in net profit from sales of services
  • Enjoy any capital gains that accrue when Alpine Edge is successful.

HOOFNOTE: Alpine Edge shares are being sold at $15,000 (no GST).

BREEDING RIGHT

A lifetime breeding right to a stallion generally entitles the purchaser a single nomination to the stallion, for the lifetime of the stallion. There is no ownership in the stallion, no voting rights and no dividends or capital gain.

In summary –

  • One nomination to the stallion

x No stallion ownership

x No voting rights

x No say where stallion stands or if he shuttles

x No share of profits.

His sire, Better Than Ready and grandsire, More Than Ready are loaded with descendants and his dam, Freezethemillions, who is also loaded with descendants, was a talented two-year-old herself.

Alpine Edge carries this line in all four quarters of his pedigree giving him an extremely prepotent genetic makeup, free of Danehill.

Shares in Alpine Edge have proven popular, with over 70% of stallion shares sold, limited shares remain for those astute breeders looking for incredible value and worth.

Love Conquers All, the Group 2 winning son of Mossman, will stand this season at $5,940.love conquers all

Love Conquers All offers breeders a unique opportunity, a complete outcross for mares free of Danehill, rarely seen in the Queensland breeding ranks.

The latest Group producer and son of Snitzel, Sooboog, will again stand at $5,500.

Sooboog’s latest Group winner was as recent as last Saturday after Boognish flashed home and collected the Group 3 honours in the Proud Miss Stakes at Morphettville.

This was Sooboog’s second Group winner after Boogie Dancer’s win in the Group 2 MRC Thousand Guineas Prelude.

Worthy Cause rounds out Clear Mountain Fairview’s 2024 stallion roster, standing at a fee of $8,800.

Over the past 12 months, Worthy Cause continued to grow his Group producing record with both Hinged and Cause For Concern featuring in the winner’s stalls in Sydney and Melbourne.

Stud Manager Mick Frappell anticipates a busy season ahead with the lineup of their stallion roster.

“We have a nice selection of stallions on offer with the addition of our exciting freshman sire, Alpine Edge,” Stud Manager Mick Frappell said.

“Alpine Edge is fresh off the track and offers superior juvenile form.

“You can’t win Stakes races any earlier in your juvenile career than what Alpine Edge achieved.

“Whether you are selling or racing, our stallions offer value for money and return on your investment.

“Our stallions have been hand selected for the Sunshine State’s QTIS racing bonuses – offering early precocious blood.

“Don’t hesitate to get in contact with our family to discuss your breeding needs,” Frappell ended.

Alpine Edge will stand at Clear Mountain Fairview on the Darling Downs, Queensland as a 2024 freshman sire.

Standing at a fee of $7,700, the Group winning son of Better Than Ready, is an exciting addition to the Queensland breeding ranks.

Alpine Edge was an exceptional two-year-old, winning his first two starts at Group and Listed level, including the Group 3 B.J. McLachlan Stakes, prior to Christmas.

Alpine Edge’s racing career saw him collect over $1.8m in earnings and a long list of achievements while in the Toby Edmonds racing stable.

Breeder and part-owner, Richard Foster is thrilled that Alpine Edge will stand at stud in Queensland, allowing breeders to access two-year-old blood for successful QTIS racing.

“Alpine Edge offers a unique combination of the famous La Troienne dynasty that has produced early two-year-old’s that train on to champions, for nearly a century around the world.

“His sire, Better Than Ready and grandsire, More Than Ready are loaded with descendants and his dam, Freezethemillions, who is also loaded with descendants, was a talented two-year-old herself.

“Alpine Edge carries this line in all four quarters of his pedigree giving him an extremely prepotent genetic makeup, free of Danehill,” Foster ended.

Clear Mountain Fairview Stud Principal, Bob Frappell, is delighted with the addition to their stallion roster.

“When the opportunity arose to stand Alpine Edge, we jumped at it because it is rare to stand such an exceptional two-year-old performer,” stated Bob Frappell.

“Alpine Edge is a beautiful looking horse with a superb temperament, so breeders can send mares confident their foals will be similar to their father’s disposition.

“Alpine Edge enables breeders to obtain QTIS eligible progeny that will be ready to hit the ground running as juveniles, just like their sire.

“Alpine Edge represents incredible value at $7,700, a fraction of the service fee of his sire,” Frappell said.

Shares are available in Alpine Edge at $16,500 which includes two nominations per year for the life of the stallion.

Frappell believes Alpine Edge represents true value for money.

“This is a unique investment opportunity which allows breeders to get involved with owning a stallion at an affordable price,” said Frappell.

“Alpine Edge has an exciting future as he embarks on his next journey as a stallion at stud,” Frappell ended.

As seen on Breeding & Racing

The Gr1 Tatt’s Tiara during next year’s Brisbane Winter Carnival is the long-term goal for Wednesday’s Inglis Digital September (Late) sale-topper Boogie Dancer (Sooboog-Search For Fame, by Quest For Fame), who sold for “an incredible’’ $560,000.

Gilgai Farm’s Kelly Skillecorn purchased the Group 2 winner – who was offered by Wylie Dalziel’s Dalziel Bloodstock – for Bi-Lo Bloodstock.

Skillecorn confirmed Boogie Dancer will have the primary goal of securing more Black Type on the track ahead of her breeding career in 2024.

“She’ll go to the paddock for six months now then be set for the Queensland carnival in May and June next year and all going right between now and then, that would culminate in the Tatt’s Tiara,’’ Skillecorn said.

“And then she’s off to Ole Kirk. Ultimately, we bought her for Ole Kirk, a Group 1 win between now and then would just be the perfect finale for her.’’

Skillecorn admitted he had mixed feelings about the purchase, describing Boogie Dancer as “an absolute beauty’’ but “bloody hard to buy’’.

Winner of the Gr2 Thousand Guineas Prelude at Caulfield before finishing fourth in the Gr1 Thousand Guineas, Boogie Dancer is by promising young Snitzel sire-son Sooboog who is standing the 2023 breeding season for $5,500 at Queensland’s Clear Mountain Fairview.
