No Doubt About it, Clear Mountain Fairview Can Produce Winners

Talented 3 Years Old – Zaha’s Pride

It has been a thrilling start to the New Year for the team at Clear Mountain Fairview with Zahas Pride culminating a successful week for the stud being the fifth winner bred in just a number of days.
Amongst the winners by the stud’s stallions were Proud Zaha, Sniplaz, Drumshanbo and Street Parade who all recorded victories.
Australia Day 2009 will be memorable for the owners of Zahas Pride, R Prescott & T J Stone as they witnessed him extend his $107,800 in winnings by collecting another $32,000 at Doomben after winning the 6th race.
The three-year-old chestnut gelding whom resembles the look and temperament of his sire Zaha, combined with the speed of his dam Proud, collected his fourth win from as little as six career starts.
Trainer Michael Nolan of Toowoomba has found this youngster’s winning ways after fending off a red-hot-field including the Alan Bailey-trained High Roll’n Woman and $2.60 race favourite Adnocon who finished fourth and fifth respectively.
Zahas Pride jumped from barrier 4 and used a lot of fuel in the early parts of the race to secure a nice run on the fence as the race leader in the 13-horse field.
At the 200 meter mark, Zahas Pride was tackled by the field who looked to be gaining momentum but the hearty three-year-old fought back to keep his lead and lock in his number as the winner in the photo finish.
Zahas Pride is now in the paddock for a month’s spell at Clear Mountain Fairview and Michael Nolan’s plans will aim the talented three-year-old towards the 2009 Winter Carnival in Brisbane.
Zahas Pride’s older full sister, Proud Zaha kicked off the winning streak for Clear Mountain Fairview on Tuesday, January 20 after scoring a victorious win by one and three quarters of a length at Rockhampton in the Class 1 over 1100 metres.
This was the mare’s first win for her new trainer Ray Walsh of Mackay and owners Mrs K E Walsh & D E Lemmon since being sold to the northern parts of Queensland from the Pat Duff Racing Stables at Deagon.
The dam of both horses, Proud (M10 Jealous Monarch-Buck’s Pride), was also a talented two-year-old after collecting two wins, a second and a third. Her second placing was collected in 2YO Superbowl Final when the horse in front fell and she jumped the jockey to avoid an accident but just couldn’t catch the leader.
Proud never returned to her winning form after a string of injuries, but has gone on to be a successful broodmare, producing two multiple winners from four foals.
Proud’s third foal is a broken-in but unraced two-year-old gelding by Tycoon Ruler and her fourth foal is an Outback Prince colt which was born in August last year.
Both horses are on the market and at currently at Clear Mountain Fairview.
The winning streak continued for Clear Mountain Fairview at the Gold Coast Turf Club where the Liam Birchley-trained Sniplaz snatched the winner’s purse in the two-year-old Maiden over 900 meters by two and three quarters of a length.
Sniplaz (G2 Zaha – Fleur Des Champs) was bred by prominent racing enthusiast Wayne Milner and sold at the 2008 Conrad Jupiter’s Magic Millions Yearling Sale to Aquanita Racing Queensland for $7,500.
Birchley only commenced Sniplaz’s racing career on January 3 in the Magic Millions 2YO Prelude 900 meters where he ran a mighty fifth behind Temple of Boom.
This was Sniplaz’s third race start and the gelding has collected $14,800 for owners M A McLean, R W Sargent, B Dodson, M G Schneider & P F Plasto.
Sniplaz scored this win from Duckin’ Daisies of the Paddy Cunningham stables who finished ahead of him in his first start in the Magic Millions Prelude on January 3.
Looking at his step up in form, it seems that only great things will continue for this Zaha youngster as well.
Now, the pedigree of the two remaining winners turns to the vintage sire Kenfair.
The grey stallion although getting on in age, would fool any viewer as he prances around his stallion paddock like a racehorse in full work.
His first winner for the week, Drumshanbo, was seen on the Garden City track of Toowoomba in race four, a class 1 over 1630 metres.
Also trained by Michael Nolan, Drumshanbo (G4 Kenfair – All Crowns) collected his second win of his racing career and added $6,500 to his prizemoney pool.
In a total of eight starts, Drumshanbo has recorded two wins, two seconds and a third placing and a total of $27,900 in winnings for owners J W Gordon & Mrs K M Gordon.
Mr Gordon bred Drumshanbo in 2004 with his mare All Crowns. The mare was retired from stud in 2005 at the age of 26 years.
Michael Nolan seems to have his stable full of winners and results prove it’s a winner when combined with stock breed at Clear Mountain Fairview.
Kenfair’s second winner for the weekend was seen at Albany with local trainer CM Wolfe taking the six-year-old gelding to a victory.
Street Parade is partly owned by the trainer along with D. Toombs, Z. & D. Merrill & L.R. O’Loughlin who would be excited with the win after he won his recent barrier trial on January 8 on his home track.
The dam of Street Parade, Di Yvette retired from stud last year after producing 10 named foals since 1990.
This win proves that Queensland sires are competitive across Australia and the other wins show that local sires dominate across the sunshine state. Along the eastern seaboard from Rockhampton to Toowoomba, Gold Coast and Doomben, there is no doubt that winner’s are bred at Clear Mountain Fairview.
