It’s been a great end to 2009 for Clear Mountain Fairview Stud.
Second season sire, Tycoon Ruler’s progeny is really starting to fire and Zaha continues to have great success.
In fact, in one instance two siblings won at Doomben in the one week. Not an easy achievement by any means, but when Zaha’s Pride saluted, his little brother Tycoon’s Pride accepted the challenge successfully.
Tycoon’s Pride is just one of many Tycoon Rulers making a name for themselves. The stallion recording six individual winners in five weeks, thanks to Conahy, Rain Bay, Tycoon Tattoo, Master Winner, I’ll Rule and Tycoon’s Pride.
But the highlight for the Clear Mountain Fairview team was the Magic Millions Plate Raceday in Toowoomba on November 27th.
The impressive Zaha youngster Tough Luck (ex Gudwill) scored a resounding win in the $100,000 Magic Millions Toowoomba 2YO Plate over 1100 meters by three and three quarters of a length.
Tough Luck led throughout and after being challenged by a Tycoon Ruler youngster in the straight, Tycoon Cat (ex La Catalina), she streaked clear late for a comprehensive victory.
Tough Luck was sold by Clear Mountain Fairview at the new QTIS 600 Sale in March to racing enthusiast Leigh Wanless.
The hammer was knocked down to Leigh at $9,000 for the filly and after this win alone, Tough Luck collected an exploding purse of over $90,000 (which included $14,000 in QTIS bonuses).
She will now head to the $2 million BMW Magic Millions 2YO Classic over 1200 meters at the Gold Coast in January.
Although being defeated by a filly that they bred and sold at the QTIS 600 Magic Millions Sale, Bob and Maree Frappell were ecstatic with the quinella finish.
Tycoon Cat was passed in at sales earlier this year, so he was taken home and was broken-in and educated by Mick Frappell and his riding team.
And the celebrations continued later in the day for the Frappells, as Tycoon’s Pride saluted in the last race on the card.
It was his second consecutive win from only three career starts.
