If it Rains, it Pours

They say things come in three’s and that is exactly what the team at Clear Mountain Fairview experience on Saturday November 17 while the ‘sunshine’ state was being hit with wild weather, cricket ball size hail and damaging winds.

It started with a metropolitan raceday double for Clear Mountain Fairview Stud after stormy weather rolled in and in just twenty minutes the Eagle Farm track was down-graded to a Slow 7.

Jet Style

Jet Style – first Stakes winning for Tycoon Ruler.

Toowoomba trainer Michael Nolan considered scratching Sister Magic from her first start but thankfully decided not to.

The Hidden Dragon filly, who was broken in at Clear Mountain Fairview Stud and is the full-sister to Weetwood Handicap winner Miss Imagica, sat up outside the leader in the QTIS 2yo Handicap (1000m) before surging to the front on straightening.

Despite being very green, jockey Brooke Richardson managed to steer Sister Magic to salute the judge and pocketed $56,000 for connections thanks to the handy QTIS bonus.

Sister Magic was breed and owned by Gordon Smith of “Alum Rock” in Amiens (near Stanthorpe). Congratulations to Gordon and his family on the tremendous win.

Clear Mountain Fairview sire, Tycoon Ruler scored his first Listed winner, when Jet Style (G5 Tycoon Ruler-Over and Over) took out the prestigious Brisbane Handicap.

Also from Toowoomba, Donald ‘Ducky’ Baker’s stables, the 6yo gelding had a perfect run just behind them, needed luck in the straight and got it when the split came to continue his outstanding form.

Clear Mountain Fairview owns the dam of the Black Type winner, Over and Over and sold Jet Style at as a two-year-old at the Magic Millions Horses In Training Sale.

Clear Mountain Fairview’s brilliant run continued at Roma’s biggest day of the year.

Toowoomba trainer Michael Nolan decided to send impressive 6yo gelding, Blow A kiss for a shot at the $50,000 XXXX Gold Roma Cup (1640m).

Nolan decided that on the horses previous country form and the prizemoney on offer, it was worth the punt.

Blow a Kiss had a very tough task, drawing barrier 11 and up against defending winner, Dancefloor Prodigy and Toowoomba Cup winner, Musashi of Mieko.

However, he managed to put all the negatives aside and Adam Best steered him to victory to give Nolan his first Roma Cup.

Blow A Kiss has plenty of Queensland connections being owned by racing and breeding enthusiast and local businessman Kim McCasker and was pre-trained at Clear Mountain Fairview.
