On the eve of the sale, Tycoon Ruler shined when his handy three-year-old galloper, Upstart Pride, collected the QTIS honors at the Gold Coast metropolitan meeting on March 14.

Although suffering interference at the start, Upstart Pride led from barrier to box to record a length victory from his closest rival over the 1200 meter journey.

Upstart Pride’s win gave his string of connections a reason to cheer as the lightly raced galloper collected his fourth win and a notch under $200,000 in prizemoney earnings.

The win added to the result of trainer Michael Nolan being awarded the leading QTIS trainer for the month of March and Upstart Pride finishing runners-up on the leader board.

Tycoon Ruler continued to showcase his brilliance as he topped the sale ring as the most profitable stallion, averaging almost ten times his service fee of $4,400.

Four Tycoon Ruler colts went under the hammer including Upstart Pride’s full-brother who fetched $60,000 and was knocked down to Philip Gracie.

Mr Gracie raced the older full sibling, Tycoon’s Pride and consequently has returned to Clear Mountain Fairview for breaking in and education.

Clear Mountain Fairview recorded a clearance rate of 77.77% and gross sales of just a notch under a quarter of a million.
